A: To encourage contributions for the advancement, promotion, endowment, and maintenance of a fund for educational, charitable, scientific, and literary activities.
Q: Why was the Foundation started?
A: Following the death of Dr. Pat Trammell, Coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant and several of Pat's teammates recognized that there was a need to assist the families of former University of Alabama athletes in times of hardship. Particularly, they were concerned about medical expenses and educational needs. The current Foundation has evolved from this limited view to one that is broader in scope.

A: Tommy Brooker, James A. Sharpe, Joseph K. Sims, and Billy Neighbors were the incorporators for the Foundation, December 31, 1968.
Q: What kinds of needs are met by the Foundation?
A: Educational, through non-athletic scholarship assistance; medical re-imbursement for needs not covered by insurance; other needs that may come to the attention of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
